PASTORAL CARE TEAM
PRACTICING THE WORKS OF MERCY
Saint John Vianney Parish is happy to provide pastoral care to the pastoral institutions that reside within our boundaries, as well as our homebound parishioners and friends.
We are motivated by the words of Jesus Christ to St. Paul on the road to Damascus: "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" (Acts 9:4). In this is the acknowledgement of Jesus Christ present most especially in those who are suffering. This teaching is once again echoed in the Judgment of Nations recorded in the Gospel of Matthew: "Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to the least of these, you did not do it to me" (Mt 25:45).
Animated by the Eucharist and the presence of Christ in those who are suffering, we seek to bring pastoral care to those in our parish.
The Pastoral care team are trained Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who bring the Eucharist to those in need as well as their healing and comforting presence. We serve in two pastoral care settings:
1) Nursing Home Ministry
2) Homebound Ministry
